i've always thought Bruce Hornsby to be on of the most well rounded mainstream musicians of our time
if any of you were to see him at Tipps years ago during Jazz Fest knows the feels he deals when playing live, there is a lot of love there
on his more popular tunes, The Way It Is, is a never really beautiful song that i believe captures the genius of Bruce

His son Keith plays for LSU basketball. You could probably meet Bruce at a game.

Why is Bruce Hornsby's kid such a douche?

I saw him on pensacola beach in '87... and I know the song you linked (who doesn't) and his son plays for the Louisiana State University basketball Tigers... thats the extent of my knowledge..
oh, I also know he played with that band, the GD, from time to time..

I really think he's getting overhyped. Wasn't that much of a stud at UNC-A

I saw Bruce sit in with the Dead in 1995. One of the few good Dead shows I witnessed in that final year.
He really brought an energy to the show.

It was pretty awesome. I had sworn off psychedelics at that point in my life, but for some reason on that night of the run, I decided to take some black pyramid gel tabs. As I started to come on, the people who had been inside for soundcheck and seen the baby grand on the stage had come back to the lot and started circulating the word that Bruce was going to be sitting in. There were just like these constant chants of "Bruuuuuce" from those in the know throughout the lot as we started to enter the venue that really made it feel like something amazing was going to happen.
And it did...
We were bummed because we'd missed the Unbroken Chain in the Philly run, then we got ours that night along with a sick Scarlet->Fire, awesome So Many Roads (to ease my soul... damn...), and Corinna Matilda jam into drums/space that was hot. The show is worth a listen (at least the second set).

Most people just know him from his early radio songs but since he's put out some great records. His current band The Noisemakers is great.
There's a website called Bruuuce.com where they give away and sell live shows. There's a compilation set you can get for free called Daigle's Choice. It's 4 volumes of live stuff recorded from their front of house engineer.
It's really good playing. They do different arrangements of songs and he will frequently launch into something else and they go with it. Kind of a jam band/jazz approach in the way they go about playing.
