and we're leaving for vacation in the morning should i tell my wife or just wait until we get back? i don't want to keep it from her, but i also don't want her thinking about it the whole time either. tia

I don't understand this. Based on the info in the OP I am going to assume you were either fired, or made an emotional decision and just quit on the spot.
Either way if you want to enjoy your vacation it's best not to tell her but she will notice something is wrong
