"The vote will be this November." Nope.

"We'll have the petition submitted for a December vote." Nope.

Well....maybe sometime next Spring....

that is probably smart, a stand alone election is probably a better result plus it gives longer to get more signatures.

The article with Rainey's admission the vote won't be this year is political news and was just posted online this evening.

I don't really follow closely, don't live in BTR metro, but I thought I read on here several times where most agreed it would be pushed back due to signatures being contested.

I said in a thread earlier this week it wouldn't happen in December because the deadline for getting the signatures submitted to be certified by the Registrar of Voters had already passed which was Sept 1.

The SG fanatics told me I was wrong. They said the deadline is Oct 21 which is the Sec of State's deadline to receive the certified petition but they refused to admit it takes time for the EBR Registrar of Voters to certify 18,000+ signatures.

Looks like I was right.....again.

I bet you can't provide a link saying the deadline was Sept. First for items to be on the December ballot.

Nevertheless, I'm disappointed the election won't be in December, and I take the OP as bad news .

What are the wager stakes?

Eta: WTF did you run off to? You propose a bet then sign off? How about a 6 month self ban? If I can't prove that Sept 1 was the deadline for the signatures to be submitted for the petition to be certified for submission to the Sec of State, I won't post on the Poli Board for 6 months. If I can, you don't post on here for 6 months. Deal?

If you can show me an official document stating the deadline for putting a proposition on the ballot for the December La. Election was Sept. 1, 2014; I will write a check to the BR Food Bank for $1,000.00.

That's not what the Sept 1 deadline was for. Once again you're refusing to accept reality.

Russian, exactly how much money would you lose if St George became reality?

""St. George"" will. not. happen. I wish the obsession would just stop.

It was never going to happen.

Again you can't post link to a legal September 1, 2014 deadline for submitting the SG petition in order for it to be on the Dec ballot.

Just more Russian hogwash.

Let's see if you back out of your losing bet. I'm sure you will. You've proven you have no integrity.

quote:

On Friday, Elaine Lamb, East Baton Rouge Parish registrar of voters, said that date doesn’t take into account the time her office needs to verify all of the signatures on the petition — a process that must happen before the Secretary of State’s Office puts the item on the ballot. “We really would need the names by now (August 3),” Lamb said, referring to the time needed to make a December ballot. “But we at least need them by the beginning of September.

Yup. DOA. Syanora to that nonsense. Soon as they annexed the Mall area it was over. They'll have the casino in a couple a months too.

That's a good point I haven't thought of. SG's delay in the vote gives property owners more time to get a petition to the council for annexation into BR.

My cynical side tells me that the SG organizers also want to delay submitting the petition as long as possible because once the proposal is put on the ballot they will then be required by law to start filing financial reports for their committee showing how much money they've collected in donations and how they have spent the money.

Almost 9 months ago in January Rainey said the total of donations and expenditures were over $100,000 at that point but he didn't list who the donors have been or exactly how the money has been spent.

So according to your hogwash, the deadline was August 3rd. Then it says at least early September.

So in your make believe world that meant September 1??????

Come on man, I knew what you were relying on and I knew she didn't say Sept 1but keep em coming. You are always good for a laugh on a Friday night.
