Thoughts on Lacouture's play to this point?

Is he a future star as an upper classmen, or does he get pushed around a bit too much?

I think at 6'5, we really need to beef him up to 320+. Him playing at 295-300 won't cut it at his height for DT IMO. At 6'5 and fairly light weight in 295-300, he will be pushed around too much IMO due to leverage. If he added 20-25 lbs he could be a Brockers type force IMO.

Him and QT's play this year has been very disappointing.

I don't break down film, but I pretty much never notice him while watching the games on TV or in person. I know he is in the game, but just never notice his play. So he is either making it possible for others to make plays or he is just average to below average.

He is fairly solid, but not spectacular

In three games LC has half a tackle for a loss and half a sack. QT has 0 in both of those categories. Two of which were cupcake games.

This, but we need all he DTs to start making noticeable plays on the other side of the line of scrimmage.

He's been very average. Seems to do a decent job of clogging space, but he's not making very many tackles at the LOS and is generating very little pass rush. Godchaux may very well be our best DT which is troubling.

Right now he looks to be our best DT, maybe not saying much. He is a true sophomore who should get better as the year goes on. If he gains that muscle weight and doesn't lose quickness fine. Even at his height, he is not that undersized for how LSU likes their DTs now. Go to the roster and check the height/weight of our DTs. Looks like he will have a good career with us. Just my 2 cents.

Average. Serviceable and a good body to have but he is not doing anything noticeable to this point.

If you had a pair of eyes, you would notice Godchaux is our best DT. LC and QT have been underwhelming so far

He hasn't stood out, but none of them really have.

Honestly though our two NFL draft picks didn't really stand out much last year. Logan in 2012 was our last impact DT.

CL is a true sophomore and I agree he could put on 20 pounds at his height. he is a solid plugger. not much of a penetrator but they aren't asking him to make plays in teh backfield. That is Welter's job

Never gonna be all SEC. He isn't great but he is doing the best he can. Could really use a JUCO guy to come in at DT. By far our weakest position.

Yes, my biggest concern on defense is the DTs. Should be good test this week. Oh for the days when Freak and Ego were 4th and 5th in the rotation. Most of them are young so hope remains.

cl is a true soph. I don't think brockers contributed much in his second year. he will be a good players but has shown no signs of being the next bennie logan.

Futures you could be right, DG definitely has the most upside but definitely not dominating at this point

It's hard to tell right now. He's still very young for a starting DT. He's doing very well for only his second year in college. If we had the right upperclassman he would be our third or fourth DT, and we'd be impressed by him right now.

Lacouture is a space eater not a penetrator like Godchaux. I think Lacouture is a year away from being dominant. He and Godchaux will really start to click when Lacouture gets bigger and stronger and requires double-teaming. This will allow Godchaux the one-on-ones he can exploit. Either that, or they'll both get double teams and the LBs will be clean.

Edit: Godchaux is going to dominate the SEC. Maybe not this year, but definitely next. I was watching the DT's against Monroe, and he has some elusiveness.

I could be wrong, but wasn't Brockers a first round draft pick after his second year playing?

Didn't he leave after his RS sophomore season?
