The asinine Bill Snyder is overrated thread on the SEC Rant got me thinking - is Snyder one of the 10 best coaches in the history of CFB?

He took over the worst program in CFB and turned them into a perennial contender in the Big 8/12, all while operating out of Manhattan, KS.

SI article on Snyder and KSU from 1989

KSU won their 299th game as a program on October 18th, 1986, and then went winless until Snyder's first win in his first season on September 30th, 1989. They were 0-26-1 in their last 27 before he took over, and in 10 seasons, he had the Kansas State Wildcats 11-0 and #1 in the country.

Truly unbelievable.

I don't know if I'd put him in the top 10, but probably top 20 for sure.

I don't know, but all the tards who kept inserting that cartoon GIF of him in the game thread last night were annoying.

He is easily top 3 under appreciated or unrecognized. He would be between 10-15 for sure.

i really think you can make the arguement that no coach in say the last 50 years has done to a program what he has done.
not only were they the worst 1-a football program when he got there, they were the worst athletic department, and if you read this link, the University was failing as a whole

Here's a fun fact. Snyder once interviewed for the LSU job - I can't remember if it the Hallman or Dinardo hiring. He was strong candidate until he made it known that he wanted to change LSU's uniforms.

I think he ranks around or above someone like Steve spurrier. The past 15 years the best coachs are more ace recruiters than anything which Snyder is not

He may be the best talent developer in college football.

top 10 may be a stretch

but if you're argument was top 10 coaches who dramatically changed the culture of a program he would be up there no doubt

Tom Osborne
Steve Spurrier
Bobby Bowden
Woody Hayes
Knute Rockne

frick Joe Paterno.

And, as much as I hate him, Nick Saban HAS to be on that list.

Pretty much what I think as well, but the job he has done at KSU has been incredible.
