I wanna be an a-hole but I just don't have it in me today. We choose and we'll wear white.

Only thing the visitor gets to decide is heads or tails and if they get that right they get one more decision whether to kick or receive or which side of the field they want.

I just got a call from Moo St and they did say "NO". Me, Miles, and Alleva are meeting in a few minutes to decide on purple or gold......or the NEW unis out of the secret dress book....let's just say "rainbows anyone"

I really thought this was the case too, but from the smart arse comments I guess it's not. It was some time ago. Must have changed at some point and I never knew about it.

You're not entirely wrong. The NCAA rule is as you state, but the SEC has made it a rule that the visiting team will always agree with the home team, so MSU has no control. Now if this was an OOC game, the NCAA rules would apply and we would need the visiting team's permission to do so. This is something that we would probably include in the contract negotiations.

Perhaps that's why we wear purple so often for OOC home games. I know we wear white for the home opener and so far have always worn white in the OOC neutral site games.

Most teams wear dark at home. There were some instances where the visiting team brought white by mistake to schools that wear white at home. This created some problems so it became a hard and fast rule that visitors always wear white.

I believe it was DiNardo who got them to let the home team wear white if both teams agreed to it. After a few pissing matches among SEC teams (I think Spurrier made us wear dark one time), the SEC added the home team controls rule.

Saban started the wear purple at home for at least one OOC game as sort of a tribute to those teams that only wore purple at home and we have been continuing that as a tradition.

It won't happen but it would cool if they came out gold jerseys and white pants. All striping traditional style.
