ASUS Laptop?

Newegg's "discounts" are often just fake inflated prices slashed through, pretty similar to Amazon. This is probably no exception. However, $1199 is an excellent price regardless. More than enough RAM and CPU power paired with a very capable gaming card, and ASUS build quality on these ROG laptops is great. Even better is that the ROG laptops have a second, empty 2.5" drive bay, so you can add an SSD of your choice and install Windows, while still being able to keep the hard drive for increased storage capacity.
Usually, there's an MSI configuration that beats ASUS for the price, but that's not the case here. I'd get it.

Damn. Really? I didn't think I'd ever be able to run a lappy like my desktop with an SSD/HDD setup. Any other brands out there have this option?

I currently own an Asus laptop that I used for regular computing purposes. Its about 4 years old now and its still serves its purpose and has held up very well for its age.
However I did just buy an MSI GP60 but it was $850. I think the ASUS beats what MSI has at that price.

None as far as I know, particularly with the main brands of gaming laptops hovering in this price point (Lenovo, MSI, ASUS). The hard drive caddy adapter is pushed pretty hard for Lenovos, which is an adapter that replaces the optical drive with a bay for a second 2.5" drive. Not a bad option if you don't care about the optical drive. I'd probably go that route.
For MSIs, their gaming laptops usually have one or two mSATA slots for an mSATA ssd.

I bought the model below that one about 3 months ago, and it is a beast. I would definitely recommend it.

Looks good to me, except the Windows 8 part. But that's fixed easily enough.

Article is a year old, but check this drive out. WD Black2 combo drive. It's a 120gb ssd and 1tb hdd in one shell that will fit most laptop bays. There's some drawbacks, but looks pretty sweet.

I love windows 8. So that's not an issue at all.
