In honor of the new MLS logo lets rank the teams crests. I apologize if this has been done before.

The crests for reference.

Disclosure: Im a sucker for classic crests that age well and have a historic timeless look.

The Yack Group

21. New England Revolution
This thing looks like it belongs on field day t-shirt.
20. San Jose Quakes
Has a very Saturday morning cartoon quality to it.
19. Houston Dynamo
Just not much to say about this. I dont like it
18. Columbus Crew
A picture is not a crest.

The Disney World Group
These arent bad, even good in composition and shape, but they are overly vectorized and remind me of logo for the Olympics or a zoo/theme park.

17. Vancouver Whitecaps FC
16. Seattle Sounders FC
15. LA Galaxy
14. Portland Timbers

The Not Quite There Group
13. Real Salt Lake
Is it the font? The colors? Im not sure. Somethings off.
12. Montreal Impact
I see the vision. But the fonts not right and the Fleur de lis shouldnt be two toned
11. Colorado Rapids
Actually like this one. Colorado teams always have solid logos. But its just to inoffensively boring to be any higher.

The You Stole This Group
10. New York RedBull
Yeah, the company Red Bull spent millions on its brand, your logo will look good, if not too corporate.
9. Chivas USA
I hate your team, thought I'd get that out of the way. That being said your logo is classic as shite. Whats that? Its the exact same logo as a long existing Mexican team, and IS classic as shite? DEDUCTION!!

The Heil Hitler Group
8. DC United
Dont get a DC United tatoo and then go to jail. The brothers will not like you. That being said, its a nice looking logo. Then again, im sure the swastika looked cool originally.

The Pickin Nits Group
7. Sporting KC
Nice logo. Looks a little to much like a sports car emblem.
6. Chicago Fire
Love the historical importance. Very timeless and traditional. A little plain though
5. Philadelphia Union
Great logo. Points off for putting a crest inside of a circle. If they would have fit everything seamlessly in the inner shape, could be #1
4. FC Dallas
Just a good look. Will age well. Captures the city. Love the 96.
3. NYCFC
Very traditional. Great colors. Im more lenient on the circle thing because in this case, the circle is the crest, not just around it.
2. Orlando City
What a great first effort. Well kinda first effort. Very simple and elegant. Plus the purple is unique. If there was some striping behind the lion to add a touch more detail it could be the winner.

And The Winner is....

1. Toronto FC
Those damn syrup drinkers. Great colors. Classic shape. Perfect font. Will look awesome in 5 years or 50 years.

What say you guys?

Isn't Columbus getting a new logo?

Philly #1, San Jose last.

ETA: Thanks to GC, my "last" rank switches to New England.

Yes.

And the Quakes got a new logo this season.

Orlando should have never dropped the red from their crest.

If you're going to rank the logos, at least make sure you're ranking the correct ones!

ARGH!! Rabble Rabble.

That new crest would probably move them into the teens.

But you said "a picture is not a crest" for Columbus.

As a Dynamo fan, I hate our crest. It is so bland and tells nothing of the region. I guess the name Dynamo doesn't help anything, but they could do way more.

That, believe it or not, is not an actual picture of a real lion

They should have stuck with this:

Not in the sense that picture can be a synonym for photograph.

I feel as though it is now reasonable to conclude that through our discourse you understand the distinction I have made and are no longer haunted by, what you perceived to be inconsistent and unjust judgement.

I don't think you understand the difference between a photo and a graphic.

A photo is a graphic, nice try on being condescending though.

Disagree. But it could use some red.
