Was working at my desk and looked up and saw one about 30' from me at eye level. My office sits about 35' off the ground. I couldn't get pics on the first pass as he tried to grab a fish from the water, but he swung around and landed in a tree about 60' away and I was able to get a few pics.

fantastic pictures! I actually saw one last weekend by Weeks Bay. We were driving down the Intracoastal and one was circling pretty low right over the canal

Bald eagles and swallow-tailed kites are a joy to spot. Kestrel's are another one that put a smile on my face. I'm not sure if they are more rare or inconspicuous.

Awesome pics. We see them periodically in Maringouin during duck season. Also saw a white hawk/eagle last year. Raptors are the shite.

I saw one last year on the Hermann park golf course in Houston. Huge birds.

I worked a blowout in Grand Bayou (no longer a settlement) near Paincourtville back in 2003. We had a bunch of registered ornithologists watching this breeding pair out in the swamp to make sure we weren't disturbing them. Those frickers would go out into the field, catch a snake and then fly right over the rig and show off their catch before heading back to the nest. Seemed like they were pretty well established and completely un-bothered by our presence. Beautiful to watch them though.

Great pics, wick.

Nice pix. I saw a few around Cypress Lake when I was down there a couple years ago.
