My lovely bride got me a GoPro H3 for our wedding anniversary.

I've seen a few of yall's cool fishing/boating videos.

Going to Cocodrie this weekend, and hope to catch some nice shots.

Any advice?

Don't make people watch every single thing you record.

Get the app for your phone, you dont even have to touch the camera and can see everything.

Got the app. No way my old eyes can see that print on the camera.

Looks like I need a suction cup mount and maybe a handlebar mount, maybe a flex mount too!

Looked at ElusivePorpi's videos for reference.

Yeah. A suction cup, bar mount is key. All on a flex bar. What I'm learning is the video should only be one song long., different camera angles are needed, and the lens on these things are very wide so the camera has to be pretty close to whatever you want to film.

It will Take a few tries to get the artist outlook on things but its a fun process. Good luck

Just go ahead and buy this now: LINK

The stock GoPro battery is 1100mA-h while these are 1450mA-h. If you plan to use it a bit you'll need to have backup batteries

As long as the wife knows that the red light means it's off, you're golden...

A head mount for the lovely bride is the only thing I can think of.

My question was really just a "make me feel good about getting the cheaper version" question. I'm not getting the black. Say something like the white is all you need. Black only if you are super into editing and go out all the time.

I've got the silver and it's fine. I just always have buyers remorse when I make these kind of electronics choices. Any of them will take quality vids

I took a one day class on how to edit the films. Glad I did. Saved a lot of time and frustration.

I think I've got a good handle on editing with iMovie. Just don't try to do too much with it and it's simple.

Get the headstrap mount (I use it for shooting; can be seen in my YouTube reviews/videos).

Get GoPro Studio. It let's you edit clips from your GoPro and control all sorts of things (speed, colors, contrast, brightness, frame rate, titles, etc.). I use a combination of GoPro studio and iMovie for my YouTube vids.

i downloaded "movie maker" off Microsoft's web site and it is very simple to use. i would think of how you will edit your movie before you even start shooting so that you know what angles and shots you would like to see.
