Water pump question about one on an RV.

Looks like my pump is bad. It makes a ton of noise and no pressure.
Here is the question:
Why would plastic shards be on the intake side of the pump? I pulled the sight cover and by the screen, there were shredded bits of plastic.
Any ideers?

Usually comes from the tank itself. Pieces that could have been in there since new.

Thanks, C-man.
I'm thinking about reinstalling just to see. I didn't pull the cover until I had it out.

Sure-Flo pump? Those things are easy to rebuild and the kits are pretty cheap. I don't think I've ever had the actual motor go out on one.

Man, it works fine. The only thing is that it did this before (worked OK after a power down) so I'm not super-confident. It still could be a thermal issue.
Good call on the shards being from installation; I wouldn't have thought they would have been so careless, but it is an RV. These are the same people that use a double-Roberts screw and strip them when they're putting them in.
It is a AquaTech 5.3 GPM. Aquatech wants $375 to rebuild it with a 2 week turnaround.

Yes!
Why is Aquatec telling me $325?

Not a hijack but a question if I may.
A buddy just bought an '06 Denali trailer for their hunting camp. Anything I should warm/update him on for those of you who have owned for a while?
TIA

I would run some liquid dishwasher detergent through the black and gray tanks to clean the sensors. Make sure the tanks are about 1/2 full, then drive it awhile, then rinse when you get stopped.
Lube the slides, lube all moving parts, with a good silicone lubricant.

Man, that's Greek to me, but I'll print it a forward to the owner.
Thanks much.

Also, lube the hubs on the axles.
I can't believe Clames forgot that.

I've stopped trying to make my sensors work.

Sure you don't have air in your lines?

The dishwashing liquid may shake the crud loose.

Yeah, we have boats and 4 wheeler trailers, just no experience with RV types.
Appreciate the input, I'll forward it along.

Had the same problem and the check valve on the city connection/water feed had broke into pieces.
Try just putting a plug on the water inlet and see what happens.. I fixed it with a "y" fitting with shut offs. Keep everything closed and see if pump will build up pressure.
