iPhone 6 Plus Upgrade?

Can anyone tell me the best way to go about doing this? I called AT&T and they said they couldn't take upgrades/pre-orders over the phone and I should go to the website...
I hate making two-year commitments without understanding everything ad nauseum.
Apparently, I'm eligible for AT&T Upgrade Next program? (You can spread the cost of the phone out over 12 or 18 months?)
(I searched and couldn't find anything but spec threads.)
