quote:

To abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, transfer
its functions relating to the Federal firearms, explosives, and arson laws, violent crime, and domestic terrorism to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and transfer its functions relating to the Federal alcohol and tobacco smuggling laws to the Drug Enforcement Administration, and for other purposes

According to Sensenbrenner there are two main goals for the legislation, "to eliminate and reduce duplicative functions and waste to the maximum extent possible, and to report to Congress with a detailed plan on how the transition will take place."

The legislation comes after years of corruption, Operation Fast and Furious and after a series of ATF stings in Sensenbrenner's home state of Wisconsin where agents took advantage of mentally disabled teenagers by giving them neck tattoos and teaching them how to commit crimes. ATF agents also lost track of a fully-automatic machine gun in Milwaukee after it was stolen from an unattended government vehicle.

Randy Weaver's son and wife probably would have the same sentiments, along with the 23 children burned to death.

Agree. Especially when their surveillance had him days before in town and he was alone. He could have been arrested peacefully.

But, Clinton was pushing for gun bans and the administration and agency needed a big, high profile bust to push the agenda in the news. Which is the reason there was so much video available and why the press was on the scene of the initial raid.

What's sad, is between Waco and Ruby Ridge, not one single person was held accountable. A couple of agents were "disciplined".. but 2 yrs later, received reinstatement with back pay and then cushy new jobs. And folks like Schumer and other gun grabbing politicians white washed it.

That's sexual harassment, and Alahunter doesn't have to take it.

Can always rely on hateful, emotional responses from those who can't argue with rational thoughts. Hate, intolerance and bigotry seems to be your go to response.

so true. And as I've said before, if this happened under Bush the media would still be raining hell. I'll even admit that.

Every federal department created by the Congress should be subject to sunset provisions.

It's continued existence should be tested every 10 years.

Why don't get rid of the agency with less seniority first? Start with the DHS.
