As I said in a past thread, we have gone to far in this country. It's no longer just the left, it's becoming more and more mainstream.

quote:

Robert Griffin III, the now-former Washington quarterback, was about to wear a Christian T-shirt at a post-game press conference until the NFL said...ummmm, no. RG3's shirt read "Know Jesus No Peace" and, simultaneously, "No Jesus No Peace."

On a quick side note, the writer of this piece included a picture of the shirt.... yet the writer can't spell it right. It's important to spell it right in order for the shirt to make sense. It's not "Know Jesus NO peace" It's "Know Jesus KNOW peace"

Back to the story...

quote:

frankly, I'm glad they told him not to wear it.
It's one thing to say "Know Jesus No Peace." It's a pretty positive statement about one man's religious belief about the power of Jesus in his life. But "No Jesus No Peace" tells me that because I don't "believe in Jesus," I have "no peace" in my life. Kinda crappy and 100% negative.

This is becoming the norm.

quote:

CBS had the real reason he was asked to turn the shirt inside-out. Shocker - it had nothing to do with Jesus:
According to NFL bylaws, players are prohibited from wearing clothing with personal messages on game-days.

A complete lie. That rule is not really enforced.

Um, yes it is.

If you don't believe it, think about what some of the enterprising young men in the NFL would have marketed if allowed free latitude on clothing.

He should have had a picture of two men kissing on his shirt, he'd be a hero...

I googled around and the only instances I could find of the NFL coming down on players for shirts were situations where they violated exclusive endorsement deals the NFL had in place. This appears to be the case in this situation.

Good!

Keep the propaganda off the TV, don't need two men kissing or a fairy god father in the sky shoved down our throats.

Have a nice day though :)

The Redskin on TV right after rg3 also had a different brand shirt on, and he was not asked to turn his shirt inside out

It actually is, ridiculously so in fact. The NFL has enforced this rule and even fined players for a lot of stupid shite over the past decade or so.

While I think the shirt's message is misguided and silly (sounds like one of those dorky shirts you'd buy at Michael's) saying he can't wear it is stupid.

All that being said, Griffin wearing that is kinda funny. The Baylor basketball team ran a train on his now wife while they were at Baylor and he himself was a Plan-B frequent flyer.

Wow, I think you win the prize for poster most needing the message on RG3s shirt.

Again, that guy followed RG3. It's not a Nike shirt. He has not been fined.

Ah... discredit the message by trying to discredit the messenger.

Nice to have you back Roger! BTW, TAMU was highly under rated this year!

Meh, I was faithful to my fiancé/wife both before and after losing belief in God.

Griffin is a douche by most accounts who puts on a nice little good boy facade. At least Tebow is genuine.

They only fine for strictly non-Nike gear if you wear it during the game in a manner which is openly visible. Cam Newton, Griffin and many others have been fined for using non-Nike arm bands, face shields, etc.

The other guy isn't wearing a shirt with a personal message on it. It's just a brand name, which the NFL doesn't prohibited in postgame interviews. Players wearing everything from t- shirts to suits to their pads in postgame interviews.

Not at all, it's a silly shirt that he has every right to wear regardless. Just pointing out that it's a bit hypocritical on his part.

It is a NON-NIKE gear that was VISIBLE... LOL! I just told you he wore it the same day, and took the podium right after RG3!

Nike contract... nike contract. It's not that hard to understand.

So he walked out onto the field and played in the t-shirt?

I agree, it is very simple. The NFL doesn't prohibit non-Nike apparel from being worn in press conferences and locker rooms, only clothing with personal messages. Everything you wear on the field that is visible must be Nike though.
