I have lived in BR my whole life and have never heard anyone say anything about uptown of Baton Rouge.

Would uptown be considered around Cortana Mall, since downtown is at the river, midtown (midcity) is Government/Acadian area, implying uptown is east of midcity, or is uptown "North Baton Rouge"?

Near the river, old part of Baton Rouge, west side of city. I would say from rive to I-110 is considered downtown.

Its been called downtown as long as I can remember and I am 46.

Baton Rouge is more of a 'village' than a 'town.'

What does it mean? In NYC it means Harlem, which makes sense since Harlem is North which looks like up on a map.

In Charlotte I think that it means the same as downtown, which seems like some sort of trick to attract visitors because "downtowns" often had a negative connotation by the 70's in many cities.

In Houston, downtown, Midtown and Uptown go East to West.

I didn't go and probably won't bring it when I go because I am sure I will be turned away.
