Help me become a beer snob, pictures of beer options included

The title was more of a joke, but all joking aside, I'm looking for a little help here, and was hoping the beer experts of the board could give me some suggestions. Went to the store over the weekend and saw what seemed like a decent beer selection. Are there any here that are worth picking up to try? Few notes that may help:
the few IPAs I have tried, I have liked
I favor darker beers
I am not a fan of Guinness

nothing extraordinary stands out from your pics…unfortunately, Louisiana does not have good craft beer distribution.
Stone is a great brewery so go with their IPAs
I don't like Guinness either but Stouts can be mighty might tasty…the Southern Tier Chokolate is a really nice stout with lots complex flavors.
if you're new to IPAs, start with a session IPA look Stone Go-To or Founders All Day which can be found at your local grocery store…then graduate to a heavier IPA then eventually try a DIPA like Ghost in the Machine which is pretty much the hit IPA in Louisiana right now.

Magic Hat #9 and the Stone IPA would also be good introductory beers. The Young's Chocolate Stout is exactly what it says, good if you expect it.

Can't go wrong with Stone IPA.
I'm a big fan of Three Philosophers. It isn't an IPA, it's light and fruity.
The beer mavens will be pissed, but I like Fat Tire. You can drink a lot of it and the prices are good.
Ranger is a good IPA.
Cocodrie is pretty good and it's made by a local brewery.
Never been that cuckoo about Rogue beers.
The Chimay beers are all really good. They are Belgians. A few years ago, the regional Chimay rep was holding court at Port Royal in Baton Rouge. He was a funny German guy who kept on giving beers to me and my drinking buddies.

Focus on styles and forget brands / labels.
Develop your beer vocabulary and hone in on what you prefer.
Buy a spiegelau stemmed tulip. Its the only glass you need.
Avoid the word “meh”. That’s douche bag for “I have no idea what I’m talking about and lack the words to articulate what it is I don’t like about this beer”
Now, grab that Duvel and read up on why it's one of the best in the world.

If you like IPA's stick with IPA's and Pale Ales. Try branching to Belgian Pale Ales such as the Cocodrie to mix it up.

You've mentioned that you like IPAs, but you favor dark beers, which tells me you may like a wide range of beers. I would try some of different styles and find out what you like and dislike.
One of the problems with trying a new style is that you may end up trying a poor representation of a style and that may turn you off on that style. So don't write off a style after one beer.
I would not spend too much on a beer initially. The really expensive beers are usually barrel aged and will have very intense flavors that may be too much for your palate right off the bat. Learn to like stouts before jumping into expensive barrel aged stouts. The BA stuff doesn't necessarily taste better to many people, but definitely is more expensive to produce.
In other words, find out what you like/dislike, and let your tastes evolve. Many people on this board have found that the styles they disliked when they first started drinking craft beer are now some of their favorites.
Another thing to do is use websites like Beer Advocate or Untappd to find beers that are considered good for the style. The ranking won't tell you whether or not you'lll like the beer or not, but can serve as a rough barometer for you. If a thousand people have tried a beer and it has a 2.75 out of 5 rating, then it probably isn't a great beer. However, if a 1000 people give it a 4.25, then it is probably a really good beer for that style.
Discover what you like and never stop searching for something you like even better. Half the fun of drinking craft beer is trying stuff that you have never had before...

You could always go to the NOLA tap room and try many different types of beers for cheap.

Both from Rouses.
Do they do some sort of tasting thing, or you just buy a full beer? I'd guess some craft beers are pretty pricey.
