"ULM was able to slow down our running game" nonsense

The jist I get is the crew that is worried is pumping the line ULM shut us down running, so why shouldnt State be able to do so?
Well using that same logic, UABs leading rusher went for 90 against State. Why if UAB's leading rusher was able to do that; why wont our backs that are much better be able to at worst match it? I mean shouldnt State be worried about us running over them using this same logic...

We didn't give enough carries to Fournette, look at his YPC before the last two garbage time carries.

ULM is also #31 in the country against the run
UAB #38 Rushing Offense....2 spots behind #36 LSU

Play calling, blockers, what ever, LSU averaged 4.2 YPC on 52 rushes against ULM. Last year LSU averaged 5.0 for the Year. Magee averaged 7.3, Hill 6.9 last year, where is the nonsense.
Look I love the Tigers, but what would you call this.

We could def run all over Moo St if we can get some good line blocking.

Spread out, loosen the box, and the yards will come.
5 versus 9 is losing football any way you cut it. I could bring back LSU's all-world team for one game and even they would have a tough time against a stacked box. It's numbers.

Yeah. I remember a game when I played in high school when our head coach insisted trying to "establish the fullback" as part of the option playing against a team running a 4-4 that was crowding the line on almost every down. We were physically about equal but they killed us because our coach was stubborn. We needed to be working the edges to get them out of that front.

This point can not possibly be overemphasized enough!

I'm so sick of this "spread them out" shite
We don't recruit for the spread
We don't run the spread
Let Cam work the offense. We're gonna be a heavy Pro-Style team including the spread Elements he's incorporating. We aren't going to just run 4 wide sets the whole fricking game because these high school coaches in here thinks it's the "best offense ever".

You do realize you can spread a D out by not only running a spread style O but also by having your qb working from under the center

I don't know how much more I can take of us running into a brick wall that is a stacked box. What was our yards per carry in the first half against UW? It couldn't have been much more than 1.0. We have to make them respect the pass even a little bit before we're gonna be able to march down the field driving it down people's throats.

This is nonsense. If it was true, no coach would ever line up with two tight ends and a fullback.

Some of you dummies never seem to learn that Miles is going to take as few risks as he thinks he can get away with. He knows that turnovers are a lot worse than punts. All of these spread-them-out teams usually end up blowing their seasons by having some multi-turnover games. When Miles thinks we need it, he will open up the offense, but only to the extent that our personnel is capable.
In six weeks TAMU supporters are probably going to be saying, "Why can't Sumlin establish the running game like Les?" I work in Houston, and I can tell you that they have an inferiority complex vis-à-vis Les Miles and LSU.

agree 100%. and if Sumlin established a running game (like Les) two years ago they would have won the SEC west their first year in.

ULM
While I do believe the offense line does need to play better in the future, ULM has a pretty solid defense. They were ranked one spot behind LSU at 19 coming into the game last weekend. All but two of their starting defenders are juniors or seniors, with the other two being sophomores in the secondary.

Jesus, some of you truly don't understand football.
You can loosen the box with a 2 WR set and motioning someone. It also requires a few timely throws.
And consistently lining up with 2 TEs in an I formation is mule headed especially when the strong tendency is a run a nd you opponent has loaded the box.
Think people....

you know "spreading teams out" can just mean getting 7 men in the box by making teams respect the passing threat
