Not sure what I hate more, caterpillars or spiders. This may be why. I was trying to reach something in a mess of vines and foliage. Felt an odd sensation. Minutes later, my arm was burning. There was a slight itch, but mostly burn. This is the area 2 days later.

Have you watched/read The Strain?

Hope you enjoy being a vampire.

I saw something under my skin moving around like a worm. I figure if I ignore it long enough, it will just go away.

I got stung pretty badly in just about the same spot by a big fuzzy black caterpillar. It looked different than that. It didn't have the "scratch" look like your arm. It also stung immediately with no delay.

is there any kind of plant that could do it? The sensation was totally different than any type of saw grass.

Why did you let the entire body lay on you? You a pervert? You deserved to be stung.

There are a few different types of stinging caterpillars. The black ones fall inyo the same category as a snake. There are also some green and black ones that sting. This looks like their handywork. I have always seen the solid black ones when there are a lot of water oaks in the area.

ETA: snake category and black caterpillar fall into the "kill with fire" category

That looks more like an excoriation (scratch)than an envenomation (sting).

Not sure what type of plant could do that. I would equate the sting I got to a bull nettle.

And Warr09, there were quite a few large water oaks in my backyard when I got stung. I reached around a 4x4 post to get something and smashed the caterpillar with my forearm. It left an imprint of the whole thing on my arm and burned like holy hell!

All fancy words and such. I concur with you. Tis but a scratch. Still gonna turn into a zombie or vampire. They don't have to bite.

Here is a sting.

Are you going with scratch from a plant then? I'll have to add that plant to my list.
