Keep seeing requests for explanations of what that means on different posts.

Animal House reference. Germans bombing Pearl Harbor.
No.
Reference of the Nazis holding news until it was in their favor to report. Kind of like the Obama administration.

When someone posts "news" that is old news, one might respond with, "News Flash--Japanese Bomb Pearl Harbor!". Take that, cross it with John Belushi's famous speech from Animal House, and then shorten it to "Germans".
Ruzil--you're just wrong.

Not only is this not what Germans means, it's not what Obama does. Obama's relationship with the news is that he never knows about anything bad going on in his administration until he sees it on the news.

Means "germane" shortened to germans. As in omit or not germane to the situation.

Urban Dictionary, now definition #13 (damn, we used to be #1):
Germans
Unapologetic request for votes "thumbs up" .... albeit germans.

Wenn jemand Beiträge "news", die alten News, könnte man darauf reagieren mit, "News Flash - Japanische Bomb Pearl Harbor! ". Take That, die es mit John Belushi's berühmte Rede vom Tier Haus und dann kürzen, "Deutsche".

That just doesn't make sense.
Germans bombing Pearl Harbor indicated that Bluto was wrong, not repetitive or stating the obvious.
The only way that this could make sense is if the person who uses Germans to indicate the obvious must actually believe that it was the Germans who bombed Pearl Harbor.
The repeated use by posters here illustrates how people who have no opinion of their own will repeat what others say just to be accepted.
Now - go ahead and reply (as I know you will) and prove me correct.

Unfortunately, it's not about what makes sense. It's about how the reference actually developed. The Animal House reference is, in fact, where it came from.
