he UK government will today set out Second World War-style measures to keep the lights on and avert power cuts as a "last resort". The price to Britons will be high.

he problem is that the energy plants were closed due to compliance with EU environmental regulations, but the UK has failed to build adequate replacements. This means the country can barely cope with peak winter demand. Successive governments have chosen to build expensive, unreliable renewables instead – which can't meet the nation's peak energy needs.

My recommendation to anyone planning to travel to Europe in the near future: Bring a flashlight.

And no, that's not a joke. The Hotel rooms are so dimly lit, that if you drop anything(like a contact) you're out of luck.

Perfect timing, right before the Scotland vote. It's like they're trying to remind the Scott's why they should secede.

Scotland doesn't want to secede from the EU

eta: Also, one of the main reasons Scotland wants to secede is that they think the UK doesn't have enough government.

A lone Scotland would have gone even farther than the UK in employing cap and trade, making their situation much worse. They're liberal loons that swallowed the climate change agenda hook, line and sinker.

I really do hope they succeed in seceding.

Watching that country to to make it on their own will be a trip. Odds they end up worse off than Greece?

Scotland seceding might help the UK out, slice off some of the most lib loons.

I think the NE US should consider it.

I'm eagerly awaiting Tuba's response to this thread since Cap and Trade makes his pants moist

The EU has already stated that if Scotland gains independence they will not qualify for automatic membership to the EU. In a sense they are also seceding from the EU.
