Iphone using data on wifi

My iphone has already used 70% of it's 2gb of data and I'm only 10 days into my billing cycle. Last month Att says I used 4gb of data. I am on wifi all the time at home and at work and barely use data any other time. Is there any reason why my data usage would be going up on wifi? This has never been an issue until last month.

Got to settings > cellular > make sure data roaming is off, and scroll down and turn off data on all of the apps etc except for critical items.
ps - you can also turn OFF cellular data altogether if you want, will only run on wifi.
