Anyone else surprised by the anti-Payton sentiments on this board?

Blaming Brees, Ingram, the defense, etc have all be the norms around here. But the hate toward Payton was pretty shocking.

I didn't realize so many harbored such feelings against our coach.

It's ridiculous. The team is a disaster right now, but Payton has more than earned the right to a little respect from us.

It began last year when we noticed how he was hamstringing the team with his refusal to try running. Some will argue early in the season we simply couldn't run the ball, due to injuries and poor play from the O-line, but his decisions to go pass happy after the running game is shown to work is infuriating. That and him motioning RB's out wide not even leaving the threat of a running play as an option.

Mark Ingram:
@ATL: 13 carries 60 yards (4.6ypc) 2 TDs, 1 reception 1 yard - didn't see much time in the 3rd/4th quarter

@Cle: 11 carries 80 yards (7.5ypc) 1TD, 3 receptions 21 yards - didn't get many carries

Brees' passing attempts:
29/42 (69.0%) 7.9y/a
27/40 (67.5%) 5.9y/a

Team:
28 total carries @ATL
27 total carries @Cle

I wonder why people are pissed.

It's because these losses are really due to poor coaching and lack of execution, which rests solely on the shoulder of CSP and the coaching staff. People on here will complain rather than try to discuss solutions to the problems the Saints face though, hence why there is all this negativity around. Come 2 weeks when we win our next 2 games, everyone is going to be head over heels for CSP, just you watch.

It began when he cheated on his wife and brought all the bad karma that goes with it upon the organization. Now God will never let him succeed again

His coaching was pretty awful today.
That's it.

This board goes in meltdown mode after every loss. 2 losses in a row and it gets insufferable.

Season isn't over yet. Home game next week so hopefully we can bounce back.

no not at all. most people are tired of seeing the team falter the same way. I think the overwhelming majority of the fans love payton but at the same time even a blind man can see that he needs to run the ball more.

Like I said, I've never seen a team come out from timeouts looking so unprepared. It cost us dearly today. That's on SP and Drew.

I've been saying that about the play calling for a couple years. It absolutely drives me nuts when he refuses to run the ball, especially when it's successful.

his unwillingness to run the ball when it is working so well to the point that he saw Brees audible into a run on that last 3rd down and called a timeout to prevent him from running the play which would have been converted into a first down. Just so we could get a pass play off which lead to a sack, out of field goal range and a loss in a very winnable game. Wasted timeouts , stupid play calling that is why Payton is being crucified today

This times a million.

Payton most def cost us the game today and the game in NE last season. I am 100% sure about this.

That's bullshite. Payton rocks (except for his hate about running the ball).

But that fat pile of shite Ryan can rot in hell.

And what do you know, the same exact thing happened in the New England game last year. In the words of the great George Santayana, "Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it."
