I know it's popular to bash ESPN on the MSB, but the NFL Prime Time show from the nineties and early 2000s was great, even with Chris Berman.

Yes I'm finding it harder and harder to get some highlights. Everybody shows abbreviated highlights then talks on their panel for 20 minutes.

Yep. Loved that show. Highlights seem to be a thing of the past now. All these shows wanna do nowadays is have their "experts" throw their analysis and opinions everywhere.

Also had the best highlight music after NFL films.

I think it's more of a reflection of ESPN declining

I think longer games and later starting games played a part in prime time going away.

Late games used to start at 3pm Central, but now many start closer to 3:30, so some don't end until nearly 7pm.

EDIT:

When NBC acquired the rights for Sunday night games beginning in the 2006 season, NBC negotiated for exclusive rights for extended highlights during its Football Night in America pregame show.

So you think the NFL used to be a better game because NFL Prime Time showed more highlights?

NBC killed it. ESPN Prime Time was a fantastic show, and had terrific, extended highlights. It was almost like getting the Cliffs Notes on the whole game. Also, the running jokes were pretty great.
