-only 20 passes (18 for jennings and 2 for harris)

-i'd imagine the majority of our formations were only 1-2 WR formations

-lots of i-form, which is an out-dated formation that should primarily be used for short yardage situations only in modern football

-it didn't appear that we worked on any "speed up" style of play or any new/creative offense

our offense didn't improve over the game as much as just wore down ULM. this would occur regardless of what offense we ran

the question is if we wasted an entire game on things that we're having issues with, like

1. blocking scheme
2. short passes
3. hurry up offense
4. single back offense
5. zone-read plays
6. intermediate passing game
7. working in the TE

we have a young offense that needs reps doing the things we will have to do to win big SEC games

last night we didn't give them many reps in the very things they need to work on in order to improve

I hate rent a win games. Period. Nothing good comes from it for the paying team.

I think there was opportunity. I am not a believer in the super secret play book but I do think they are setting up state just a bit.why else would they run 2 tight end sets that much? I seriously think they will be passing out of those formations this week.

You'll be blasted, but I concur. We've got power I down. Passing game and Jennings in the pocket are still very questionable

It a mystery game

we have 2 or 3 every year under Miles

Just vanilla ugly offensive football but a win.

I want to see some quality pass plays against inferior defenses and we struggled to protect the QB and execute down field.

I was disappointed... The running backs look good after we have pounded an undersized DL..

Yes!

Answers soon to follow will be...

We play vanilla so we don't show sec opponents the real offense.

Our offense works on the real offense in scrimmages

i mean les miles is our coach and he loves that shite and has since he's been here. remember the abortion that was Auburn in 2006?

I think there is a lot of be said for going through the "real game" routine - getting the kids used to running out on the field, playing in front of so many people, etc. So I don't think it was wasted. That being said, I think the first half next week vs Miss St and their QB will be a huge wake up call - and if we can't move the ball on offense, we'll have to work hard to win.

not really

we just physically wore down a mediocre non-BCS team over time

People will say we kept it vanilla on purpose but I hear that dumb shite every year. Next game they'll say we're waiting to open it up for Alabama. Just stupid. We tried a few plays and didn't execute then tucked it in. YES we needed the reps a d YES it was a waste of 4 quarters offensively. However our defense does looks outstanding. The defensive tackles are improving each week which was our only weak spot. I like this team but honestly I see our game plan last night as just what we'll see this year as a whole.

To those tight ends. .or the running backs

shite I don't know.

Just don't turn the ball over and let our defense win it!

this script has been written every year except 2007 and last year

we don't practice things just like this in real games against our shite competition

later in the year, we don't run it when we desperately have to against legit competition...leading to losses or ugly scrape-by wins

the narrative then becomes, "well we have a young offense and didn't have time to work on that this year"

it's the whole #SecretPlaybook stuff from the Crowton era...every year...over and over

This. We attempted to practice short passing game early but had drops by Quinn, Diarse, Neighbors (dont get me started) then we totally quit trying. WR screens need to be a big part of our offense for the following reasons:

1. We have very talented WRs that can run after catch.
2. We have an avg at best QB that needs easy throws.
3. They are basically extended handoffs so they still wear out defenses like running plays.
4. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, It allows us to utilize our superior players.

I guess the Saints, the Packers, the Seahawks, the Fourty Niners and all the other NFL teams that use a fullback should stop too.
