Better backup TE, Antonio Gates or Charles Clay?

A bit surprised to find that Gates is available in my 10 man standard league. I drafted Olsen, Rudolph, and Charles Clay so am carrying three TEs for the time being.

I know people are big on Ladarius Green overtaking Gates this year, but it sure as hell didn't look like it based on week 1 since Gates got 10 targets. Gates also got the 4th most targets at TE last year, but it just didn't translate to touchdowns, so I feel he is undervalued.

I know this is not a big decision or anything, but I am hoping that Olsen and Rudolph both become legit second tier TE options outside of the graham, gronk, thomas trinity, and that I can package one of them for a good WR down the line, so either Clay/Gates would eventually be my backup.

Clay outscored Gates last year. Gates isnt getting younger. And is injury prone

Clay's got some kind of knee deal going on too, although seems very minor.

Clay did outscore Gates last year but mostly due to 6 TDs vs 4 TDs as Gates actually had more targets, receptions, and yards. Tough choice because in the end both are probably pretty mediocre . Luckily I think Olsen is poised for a huge year.

At backup TE who presumably I would only need for one game....I would take Gates.

Hope for the flash of young Gates.

Initial reaction says Gates but after thinking about it some more, Clay. One of the RBs will eventually miss some time, opening up the opportunity for some goalline carries for Clay. And there aren't many receiving options in Miami.

And from Week 5 of last season onward, Gates has put up mediocre numbers.
