suck it up and make the 3 hour drive to Lafayette. the airline should pay for your rental car if your flight gets cancelled. at least that's what they did for my friend when his flight from LAX-Vegas got cancelled.

if it is due to a mechanical problem, etc. they will pay...but if it is weather related, they consider that to be an act of god and won't pay for shite...

I have made the drive from IAH to Lafayette, had to rent a car and drive after flight cancellations there. Rent a car and drive the 3/4 hours.

you're correct. meant to add that it was a cancellation to a mechanical issue on my friends side
which is it OP? the radar has a bunch of rain in Alexandria and north of Houston..really don't see that being a problem to get home though
eta: browsing Lafayette Regional's website right now. UA 4630 (the one I'm guessing the OP was supposed to be on) has been cancelled, but there's 2 more UA flights leaving..one at 9:54, another at 10:23. with that, I'm guessing his was cancelled due to mechanical issues.

I once split the rental car cost with 2 other passengers I was talking too on the broke down plane.

This happened to me twice in the last 3 times connecting back home to LFT. I really don't know what the deal is with United right now, but they dgas. Not like they ever realy did GAS, but it's worse now.
