explain the convoy I just passed

heading east on i-12 near madisonville... 2 charter buses with a Louisiana marshall patrol car with lights on and a Louisiana patrol car in front that just said police on it????
wouldn't a hs convoy have the local parish sheriff convoying them to a game?

Why wouldn't Southeastern just take I-55 down to I-10? Plus I would assume they have a team-branded bus. If Nicholls has one, surely SELU would have one also.

What is a Louisiana marshall?
I've heard of federal marshals. But I think the guys who serve process and such for Justices of the the Peace are called marshals. Maybe it was one of them. In which case it IS a local official.

In Louisiana, police chiefs are sometimes referred to as Marshals.
