This question might seem like a set-up for a joke, but it's a legitimate question that I have been pondering for years.

Think about it, a dried grape is called a raisin. And a dried cranberry is referred to as a craisin.

It would make sense to call a dried raspberry a raisin but the damn grape has already ruined that plan.

Would you perhaps call it a rasraisin?

what's weird is that the craisins trademark is owned by ocean spray, and that's what they sell dried cranberries as. except when I order them by the case to sell in my department, they just say dried cranberries even though they come from ocean spray. I assume it's because they don't want us to sell them as craisins since that's how they market them, but it's still weird to me.

as far as the OP is concerned, I don't know of any other dried fruits besides prunes (dried plums) and raisins (dried grapes) that use a different word than its fresh counterpart.

"Raisin" is The French word for grape. In French, a raisin is "raisin sec." I'm not sure why in English we dropped the dried part.
