Sadly this is true. I grew up in a time when Venezia's was one of the best pies in town. Now, it shouldn't be anywhere near the top 10.

Brother and I went there one time. I ordered some eggplant dish that I thought was pretty good. It was a little heavy with a thick and rich cream sauce topped on the eggplant, but it was still really good nonetheless. I never knew why we didn't go back. I thought it was a cool little Mid City joint. Plus, you also have great desserts next door at Angelo Brocatos.

ETA: I had a pizza this weekend at DeSano. Check it out on yelp. I think you'd like it a lot.

Pics? want to know what toppings you get

Lot more crowded than any of the non-tourist chicago pizza places isnt it? The one in streeterville is better than the one in lakeview

Just looked them up. Damn those pies look killer!

I'll have to put that on the list on my next visit.

I got half white top/ half customized at the Belmont location. It's not bad, but nothing special.

I picked one up because I'm driving around all day so it's convenient for $10

Question big moes

When people with highly regarded reps on f and b try it in nola then judge
But u can't trust a suburban Chicagoan transplant who tries to be hip and the chi expert even though he lives in suburban lake view (not a single high rise) for 6 mo

It's good, very fast. Great quality toppings.

No way in hell is it the best pizza in Chicago, but it would contend in Baton Rouge. I would put it above Oscars, Red Zeppelin, Mama Dellas, etc.

I've not tried the recent wave of pizza joints in NOLA so can't speak to it.

It's not ground breaking stuff. Crust needs to be a bit crispier IMHO. I would eat there a lot because I was in and out in 15 minutes, but I wouldn't really crave it for the quality if that makes sense.
