Man that game provided for some pretty intense bro-sleepovers.

Well, managed to keep my post at Hamburger for now. Got a sweet £19+ million transfer budget and then sold my best ST for £30 million to AS Monaco and they didn't even flinch. Should have asked for more. Purchased a couple of quick strikers with improved finishing attributes so hopefully I can put shots on goal this season. Also upgraded my CB after one of my starters just decided to bail on me. Still got £13 or so left with the window about to close. I'll probably hang on to that for January. Maybe I'll start a youth squad too. I was able to grab an 18 year old GK I developed @ Portsmouth before getting canned for about £2.5 million and he's rating mid-70s right now. He's my starter so I'm hoping a solid central defense can give him some help as he improves.

I scored the most absurd goal in the champions league with T Boyd in the round of 16. I'll try and post a video later.

The Atletico defender clotheslined him in the middle of shooting and Boyd goes airborne

You can still slide tackle the goalie. I've down it with Isco before. I spent the rest of the game trying to do it again.

You can't just run up to them and take them out when they have the ball. They took that out the game years ago.

What I do is make my guy slide into a 50/50 with the keeper

I've revamped City in my 3 seasons.

Sold Kun ($115), Toure (for 35 before season 3, he was 33 y/o), Silva (55-60 I think), Dzeko and Hart plus a few others.

Bought Courtois, Reus, Boateng, Benzema (part of Dzeko deal), Isco, Pogba and.....for $40-million plus 30 year old Navas....Bale. Bale isn't fricking fair. Kun alone netter me Courtois, Reus and most of Pogba. Isco was pissy and wanted out so I got him for around 20.

This squad is insane

Anddddd right after posting this shite fell apart. I only carry 4 CBs. Kompany and Mangala go down. I'm left with Boateng and Nastasic for at least a month. Got an academy guy to sign though so that'll give me a LITTLE breathing room.

I 100% believe that actual soccer experience helps with FIFA.

First of all, you definitely see the field better. You are used to looking for certain runs, overlaps, whatever. Also, you can think 3-4 passes ahead. Then there is simple shite like turning into defenders, playing the ball back across goal, trying to shoot or cross with your hips not even close to being aimed correctly. A lot of that you can get comfortable with just from playing FIFA, but some of it is natural.

Play 2s with someone and you will know if they have played soccer before by halftime.

Or if they prefer a different style of play. Me and my best friend have an ongoing manager mode together, and we break down in the final third all the time. I prefer a more intricate style like Arsenal while he wants to cross. Hilarity and offsides ensue.

Yeah, I consider myself a pretty mediocre FIFA player. It's not hard to pick up, play against other people, and become mediocre really quickly if you've played before. I hadn't played FIFA regularly nor against other people since at least 2007 (though I've bought most of them). It wasn't hard to bridge the gap this year between being pretty terrible and my friend who plays sparingly but played and people who play pretty regularly but didn't play. Super easy to keep possession against people who never played in reasonably dangerous positions.

Derby is looking great. In second on goal differential at the moment. Kane has been clinical and Darren Bent/Izzy Brown have been great off the bench. Kingsley Coman and Johnny Russell have dangerous on the wings. Zelalem, Hughes and Chalobah form a strong midfield. Loftus-Cheek and Hendrick have been great stepping in. Shotton/Buxton seemed a little shaky at first, but they've formed a solid CB pairing. Yedlin has been fun to have at RB. Getting involved in lots of attacks going forward, but still doing a good job defensively. Looking to get younger at the back in the January window by selling on some guys who don't really fit in the future plans of the club. Also really need a good young LB. Have about 2.5 million set aside, will hopefully increase that with player sales and begging the board for additional funds.

Fun Fact: The youth GK I signed is a 6'5" German with 4* skills. He's the next Manuel Neuer. He's starting already. Potential is 80-94.

I've never actually petitioned for additional funds in any version of the game before. How successful are requests typically?

During my first year at United, I requested an additonal $3 million in funds in order to replace my 2nd GK, and was denied.

I tried every month my first two years with Coventry.

Got denied every time it was to the point they stopped responding. I was afraid i was going to get canned for it

I always ask for more money. Most times if you ask for a reasonable amount they'll come back with something a little lower in my experience. For example, I asked Everton for 6 and they gave me 4 mil.
