US war planes to fly from Iraqi air base: Pentagon

Let me be clear, there will be no boots on the ground.
Washington (AFP) - US combat aircraft will soon start flying out of a base in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq as part of a "more aggressive" air campaign against Islamic State jihadists, the Pentagon said Thursday.
The use of Arbil air base reflects the broadening US offensive against the IS militants, though attack helicopters already have been flying out of bases in Iraq.

When we say there are absolutely no boots on the ground, we mean of course there will be some boots on the ground.
During Desert Storm, Spain denied B-52s were using Moron AB to bomb Iraq, even though journalists were lining the base perimeter and filming BUFFs taking off and landing. It's pretty damn tough to hide one of those. During a press conference, a Spanish defense official continued to deny it even after a Spanish journo held up cowling panel (stamped Boeing B-52) that had fallen in a sunflower field in Seville.

Here is something that this pussified nation of ours needs to remember in this damn instant access media crazed twitterverse we live in.
We all bitch about it but we live in the greatest country in the history of humanity. If it weren't, people wouldn't be trying to come here by the millions and those that don't have it wouldn't want to destroy it.
Since the beginning of time, people have had to do terrible and unspeakable things to protect their way of life and the things that are precious to them. All this crap about boots on the ground or no boots on the ground is absolute and complete bullshite. Why on God's earth would we task our military with ridding the earth of this scum and them not give them unwavering support and everything they need to do the job???? How fricking well did that work in Vietnam and Korea? A politician hasn't won a SINGLE battle from now, all the way back to when we were throwing rocks at each other. EVER!!!
Barry made the right decision. Now he needs to shut up, get the frick out of the way, stop worrying about offending someone and let the Pentagon do their damn job.

In other news, US airmen and support crews have been issued new footwear to reduce fatigue and increase comfort. The new foot ware closely resembles the common sneakers, and look nothing like boots.
T/Sgt O'Brian said "These things much more comfortable than boots. We're glad. We're being deployed soon. They tell us we are a test unit, but they must be pretty confident, because my CO took all the boots from every soldier in the company."
