Looking back now, it all looks like common sense, dont it? Hindsight is 20/20... W wasn't a "buffoon", "idiot", or "imbeccile". He was quirky, but most people are to some extent. One thing he knew better than anyone else is that we had to stick to our guns on the war on terror and commit for the long haul and keep a strong presence in the middle east in order to stabilize Iraq. The fact is, the liberal dems and their lap-dog media cohorts decided the only way to get back into power was to crucify W, and to do that they had to promise to do something that they knew was detrimental to the US and would ultimately cost more lives than it would save and ruin any future credibility with any arab allies we had - pull out of Iraq and leave them high and dry. And the sheeple of the US took that baited hook the dems wiggled in front of their noses hook, line, and sinker.

Of course not. Though I don't think he was a perfect president, there is not a single poster on this board that is as knowledgeable on such a broad array of subjects as him.

Dude.

Everyone knows Iraq was a mistake.

Going in there created the vaccuum for ISIS, just like the Russian invasion of Afghanistan created the vaccuum for Al-Queda, just like us toppling the Iranian leaders led to the overthrow of our puppet regime in 1979.

It's called blowback.

And that's a fact, jack.

It seems to work better and have better results when intervention/war is applied to non muslim countries.

They really want nothing from the west 'cept weapons and our money.

Will Obama's actions be creating more terrorists than he kills?

I guess that depends on if he actually goes after terrorists or instead sort just picks some country we've had a beef with and trumps up a reason to invade.

perhaps he should invade Iran to defeat ISIS. They're bad. You know all them Musleeems are the same. I'm a moron. Get em.

First off, Iraq started this mess by invading Kuwait... or have we forgotten about that murderous dictator's power-grab? Secondly, if we hadn't took out Sadaam, he would own half of Saudi Arabia by now, Syria, and probably the UAE.

Thirdly, no... going in there didnt create the vaccuum... pulling out did. And as I stated, that's on the Dem's heads.

The faulty part of W's logic was assuming the next President and congress would be competent enough to have a clearer view of foreign policy, and think about the long-term welfare of the US and our allies instead of political devisiveness and how to lie to make public opinion sway simply to keep them in power.

Ummm, we actually exited Iraq on Bush's timeline. And if you want to be completely honest, Obama attempted to stay there but Iraq gave him the finger.

Why does blowback only apply to Muslim countries?

I actually agree with what some of what the OP is saying, BUT much of the necessity for "sticking to our guns" in ME operations was created by the worst foreign policy decision of my lifetime, the decision to attack, invade, and topple the regime in Iraq. As critical as I am of the current administration in so many respects, GWB created a large portion of the mess we are dealing with today.
