Have made this a few times lately and it is so good as a summer vegetable dish - over rice. I actually pan fry the okra (no batter) in a bit of oil before adding the tomatoes and seasonings.

What do you recommend serving with it? It is more of a side dish, but I could eat a whole bowl of it. But, if I were serving a group of people, I'd like something to go with it. What goes with it?

If you put some fresh shrimp into the stewed tomato & okra, it is an entree. Serve w/cornbread on the side.

Pork chops, grilled, baked or fried. Fried is particularly good with that dish. I cook the okra and tomatoes with some pork, bacon or tasso.

Ribs, pork roast...I love pork with that dish, but it will go with many proteins, particularly grilled. Good with fried fish, shrimp etc... also.

For me, A Belvita breakfast bar and coffee for breakfast and two Envy apples for lunch.

Have no idea what the wife MHNBPF has in mind for dinner.

One of my favorite meals. I also like stewed okra and tomato as a side with shrimp stew.

Yes, putting shrimp in it is a great idea with some bread on the side. Thanks!

I like the idea of the breaded pork chop as well.

Try using some shrimp stock as the stewing liquid and serve over rice.
