This is an up or down vote. You must vote!

Background:
quote:

Obama said in a prime-time speech televised from the White House that the United States will join “with our friends and allies to degrade, and ultimately destroy, the terrorist group known as ISIL,” using an alternative acronym for the group that has emerged in Iraq and Syria.

Saying the United States is meeting the threat with “strength and resolve,” the president also sought to assuage the concerns of Americans who are wary of another foreign entanglement, insisting that the offensive against the militant group will not involve combat troops but will rather be a “steady, relentless effort” conducted through airstrikes in both Syria and Iraq, and by supporting military partners on the ground.

“I want the American people to understand how this effort will be different from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It will not involve American combat troops fighting on foreign soil,” he said. Obama compared the new initiative to smaller-scale fights the United States has engaged in. “This strategy of taking out terrorists who threaten us, while supporting partners on the front lines, is one that we have successfully pursued in Yemen and Somalia for years,” he said.

But the scope of the new operation — which will immediately involve expanded airstrikes, additional U.S. personnel in Iraq and new support for moderate Syrian rebels — is likely to overshadow those two efforts. In the 13-minute address, Obama did not give a fixed date for when the operation might end, and his top aides have suggested it might last beyond his time in office.

my vote: Yea

it's hard for me to say yes or no.

good things: not more troops, working with Iraq to attack ISIS/ISIL
Bad things: giving weapons to groups in Iraq and Syria to fight ISIS. Same crap that keeps us in wars over there.

I certainly wouldn't have told the wackos in Syria I was about to blow their shite up. I'd have just called Assad when the planed were in the air and done it.

All that did was give them time to hide and come up with a plan.

Were it a republican in office, I'd give it an up vote. As it stands, since it is Obama, I have to give it a down vote.

This is going to get whacked. Downvote for lack of support.

Agree in Iraq. Disagree in Syria. He needs to hold his nose and join with Assad.

If I you had to pin to a yes or no, then I would reluctantly say yes

With a clearly defined plan, upvote. But it appears the logistics are still being assembled.

I support using our air power as extensively as necessary along with spec ops. I'm not opposed to helping arm and supply the Peshmerga but skeptical of arming other groups.

I vote no. Obama will get more troops killed with lame rules of engagement.

This is about taking out Assad so that Qatar/ Saudi Arabia can run pipelines through Syria, while preventing Russia from running pipelines through Syria. I am not for a single military fatality just to enrich the piece of shite Sunni oil barons in the ME.

I am also against any intervention in Ukraine.

Both the ISIS and Ukraine issues were orchestrated by the petrodollar partners, the World Bank and ME oil barons. They want to use American military blood to defeat BRICS.

I think its a fight that should be fought but I don't believe barry has the resolve to wage war. Everything is politics with him and last night he gave a political speech more than anything else.

We should kill ISIS, just wish we had more resolute leadership.
