I remember him in the anniversary thread one year talking about it ... wish I could remember the kids screen name.
Also seem to remember that he would have been about 15 - 17 at the time (2001) ... said they kind of just pretended that his dad just never came home from a business trip if I remember correctly.
If you by chance, read this, God bless you & your family. And anyone else on this board directly affected.

had a good family friend die in the first tower hit. He was a broker and was above where the first plane hit. Never had a chance to get out. Never Forget

I think of this kid often ... don't know why. I hate this day in history. Well, tomorrow, but you know what I mean.

My oldest was in 4th grade; my 2nd in preschool and my youngest in my arms being rocked.
I was PISSED when I was told that the school not only told the kids but iirc had the tvs on. I so wanted to run and grab them but what good was that going to do?
I wish I knew who the poster was ... and I guess I remember being touched when he commented as he was a teenager and I was a mom with a kid about his age at the time.

Sad day obviously. But creepy day.
My work at the time took me past Bush IAH. Long slow drive up Hwy 59 and NO PLANES.

Same here. I remember calling my GF at the time to tell her not to go to class and to come home because class was going to be cancelled anyway and at the time there was hysteria everywhere.

Guy I was in fraternity with in college dad was in one of the towers. I won't mention his name, but he is from Mandeville. I was just telling my wife that I can see him freaking out after the planes hit like it was yesterday.
ETA: As far as I know they never found so much as a fragment of his dad to identify him.....sad deal.

patnuh, how's he doing in the time that's passed? I think I'd handle death by "accident" or "illness" better than this crap.
I don't know how people handle that.

I was in college and my classes were mid day so I slept in pretty late that day. I had like 10 VM's on my landline once I woke up. I remember listening to the first message and thinking it was one of my buddies just being an idiot. Then the second message was saying the same thing so I turned the tv on and watched in horror what was happening. I didn't leave my house all day, I was glued to the TV.

He was in a bad place for quite some time....very bitter, which I can understand.

I think I know who that is as I may have gone to high school with him. Very sad and I could not imagine what that would be like to go through.

My dad was on a plane to DC when they reported the plane hit the Pentagon.
My sister and I were in high school (I was a jr she was a sr) and we had no idea what flight our dad was on bc he flew to DC for work so much.
Scared the shite out of us bc my mom was also a teacher at our school and she hadn't heard from him.
We finally got a call about 3 hours later that his plane got turned around as they were getting near VA and ended up being forced to land in TN. He and 3 other randoms from that flight rented the last car together and drove across 4 states dropping each other off.
I remember the crippling fear that my dad MIGHT be on the wrong plane (even though thousands of planes go to DC everyday) so I can't imagine what the guy who actually lost his dad on that day felt like.
I pray for everyone who lost anyone that day.
Terrible day.

I am older than your kids but I'm damn glad they let us watch TV all day. It (hopefully) won't ever be matched as a day of such significance in my life
