I hear that windows 9 will be out early next year... I'm leaning towards still getting it soon because although I've never really used windows 8.1 I do not think id mind it. Do you guys think I should wait?

I believe you get a free upgrade to the latest software if you purchase within ~6 months of release.

I'm posting from my Surface Pro 3 right now. I haven't felt love like this since high school. My laptop is home collecting dust.

I have a Surface Pro 3 and love it. You can run anything that Windows 8.1 runs, in fact I run Oracle Enterprise (the database) for remote site client work. So far as I know there is no tablet anywhere that can do that. It is a fully functional laptop in tablet form/weight.

Oh, and Oracle database queries on an SSD are blazingly fast. My demos run much faster on my tablet than they would on a real network, which is something I don't mention during those demos of course.

I'd pull the trigger now. Why wait? The hardware isn't changing anytime soon, and you'll get more useful life out of it if you buy it earlier.
