Before I get slammed for not worshiping everything and all that Fournette does, I want to start by saying I think he's an incredible talent and we are lucky to have him on our team. I think he is an amazing running back and fits exactly what LSU likes to do with their backs.

With that said, why is he returning kicks? He is 230+ and a bruising down hill runner. Sure he can make awesome cuts and has break away speed, but it's LSU, we have speed all over our roster. I know Les likes to have a running back type as one of the return men, but why two? If any freshman should be returning kicks it should be Jamal Adams or Chark. If we are willing to risk injury to LF, why would we not put Quinn or Dural back there?

I guess my question is are we putting him back there to make people happy, or is he really our best option for the return game in the eyes of the coaches and those that see him at practice everyday and he just needs more time to prove it on the field.

The same reason Todd Gurley is returning kicks.

He is one of the shifty players on our team. He is one of the fastest. We have two rbs with more experience than LF. I dont see the problem

Has Les Miles ever done anything just to make the fans happy?

I don't mind having a big strong running back returning kicks even if he doesn't break many, just from a ball security standpoint. You wouldn't want a 230 pound rb fielding punts, but I don't see many hits jarring the ball loose from LF on a kickoff return.

Because we are deep at RB and plus that adds to his all purpose yards.Kid can take it the distance with exactly what you said"one cut and gone" i interpreted that from your post

I think you've answered your own question.

People asked the same question about Mo until he housed one against West Virginia and saved that game.

Todd Gurley and LF are not at all comparable at this point in their careers.....I agree LF shouldnt be returning kickoffs. He honestly doesnt look very comfortable doing it.

Les has always put an emphasis on going with someone who is reliable. Fournette has speed, durability, great hands and he looks to have solid ball security so far. I also think he has poise and can't see him pulling a Xavier Carter.

I've cant say the same for Chark or Adams because I dont attend practices. But, just because they have speed doesn't mean they'll be a better kick returner than Fournette.

dural is like 180 lbs soaking wet. we don't need him getting broken in half on a kick off return.

Get him in space as many times per game as possible please.

I don't know.

I read somewhere that he was:
quote:

a bruising down hill runner
quote:

he can make awesome cuts
quote:

has break away speed
quote:

Les likes to have a running back type as one of the return men

And I thought that made good sense, especially when you add in that he is secure with the ball which is kind of important, AND he is one of the top speed men on the team......

But then I remembered another post where a more valid reason was listed, and I found it:
quote:

putting him back there to make people happy
And I think this is the real reason.

I suppose that trail of busted up Wiscy defenders is invisible to others
