WYEI? Food left out overnight

Had some grilled chicken leftovers for dinner late last night. Noticed as I was leaving for class this morning that I left the container with the rest of the leftovers out overnight. I put it back in the fridge but should I eat it again tonight or toss it?

Unless you have a weak immune system, you would probably be fine, but most people on here toss food out of the fridge after 3 days so you aren't going to get many responses other than "Enjoy Your Toilet time."

I'm sure it's fine. I'd eat it

IWEI. Just make sure it's up to temp after reheating.

You can definitely eat that.

I ate chicken quesadillas that I got for lunch, left in my car all night and until lunch the next day.
They tasted like shite, but I ate em anyway. And the 2 little containers of sour cream that sat in the box. Warm sour cream is very odd, but no stomach issues.
I leave things out overnight occasionally and have never had issue. But keep in mind, my stomach can handle Krystal burgers and chili cheese pups.

I'd eat it. It's fine.
Most of the people here wouldn't believe the things I eat.

Hell no.
Why not? It was cooked already, so no crazy bacteria are there to make you sick.

I'd toss it. Chicken is sketchy....it's the most likely source of food poisoning in your home kitchen.

It's been cooked already though. A few hours in what I have to assume is an air conditioned home isn't going to hurt anything.

I'll probably still eat it. Normally I'd have just tossed it but this is food I made to last the week and didn't want to just throw 2 or 3 meals away .
If it were just one meal I'd have tossed it. I think I'll be ok though.

Some people in this thread.
It's cooked chicken that sat in the air conditioned home, in a sealed container, for maybe 8-12 hours.
I mean food sits out much longer at fast food or other deli places. And I'm sure his counter is much cleaner than those places as well.
Again.. Some people

Unfortunately I witnessed my daughter suffer with salmonella one time. I'm terrified of the chicken now.

On Sunday we eat lunch at MILs..... lunch is cooked for 10-10:30.... we eat, it stays on the counter till 6-7 we again then she puts it in the ice box. No one ever gets sick and thats 7-8 hours. Youll be fine.

I dunno about overnight. And I keep stuff in the fridge for a week before I chuck it. I mean, I've cooked stuff for dinner, forgotten about it until I went to the kitchen for a 2 a.m. snack, then put it in the fridge. But that overnight is a line I don't cross.

RE: food sitting out at delis, etc. NO. Cooked foods are kept above 140 degrees or below 40. Any place keeping cooked foods between that range is a serious health violator. Health inspector will fail you, fo'sho.
At times, you're seeing foods "out" in a deli, but the volume/pace of service means the small amount you see is used up before it warms up (or cools off). In other establishments, you're looking at a service table with wells---the containers are heated/chilled from below.
A few hours in a home kitchen is indeed fine. If he cooked the chix at 6 pm and it sat out unrefridged until 9 am the next day....you can take your chances. I had chicken-caused salmonella in '08 and I don't care to repeat the experience, ever.
