The late comedian went to Yorkville Endoscopy for a routine endoscopy on Aug. 28, but a doctor — who arrived with Rivers' entourage — offered to perform a biopsy after another doctor noticed 'something' on the entertainer's vocal chords, a medical source told the Daily News.
The routine surgical procedure Joan Rivers was supposed to undergo turned deadly when a doctor who arrived at the clinic with the legendary comic’s entourage performed an unplanned biopsy on her vocal cords, a medical source who was briefed on the case told The News.
Such a procedure is not supposed to be performed outside of a hospital, according to medical experts.

Age does not excuse improper medical procedure. Are you kidding?

A doctor that isn't operating according to the rules.

th article is blocked at work so i cant read it, but i wonder if it addresses the risk of waking her back up and moving her to the hospital and putting her back under to perform the biopsy.

I think he ruined his career when he botched a surgery and killed an 81 year old lady

what does any of that have to do with anything?
It sounds like this doctor made a terrible judgement call. He should be reprimanded
This is coming from someone who defends the shite out of all medical professionals.
Not sure what you are seeing here. Sounds to me like this doctor needs to be reprimanded for doing something stupid that lead to the death of a patient

Seriously? An entourage doctor is not exactly highly respected in the field. And clearly overstepped his bounds. Are you a doctor?

Just stop. You're taking a ridiculous position for what I can only assume is to get attention for saying something dumb. Congrats on getting us to fall for it.

wat?
They should have finished the planned procedure and performed the biopsy at a later date

based on that short quoted paragraph, that's like textbook malpractice

The routine surgical procedure
what was the procedure scheduled?
is any surgical procedure "routine" when the person is that old?

Using this line of logic, if I had run her over with my car I shouldn't be charged with anything since she was old and would die anyway.

Endoscopy but the surgical procedure was the biopsy.
They fricked up.

Article says she was scheduled to have an endoscopy....at an outpatient endoscopy center.
A vocal cord biopsy doesn't sound like something that should be done anywhere but a hospital. Esp when you are doing it on an elderly person who is already at a higher risk of complications when having surgery due to age.
