I have wondered if these work ok...always looked like a cool idea, but I have always been a little scared of them...

I second the Barska. 0 fails in the 2.5 years I've had it. It can store a ton of fingerprints so make sure you do one finger from multiple angles so in stress you can get your gun out (if you decide to keep one in it). Still on original battery too.

Cool idea, but easy to beat.

I wouldn't exactly call that easy.

They used a 3d printer, ballistic gel and a copy machine. They scanned and printed the hosts finger print using his thumb. How's a thief going to get my thumb print take it back to his high tech crime hangout and then come back with a perfect duplicate to steal my guns?

All those scenarios require them to get my thumbprint somehow. So of they cut it off...use tape...or force me by gunpoint I have bigger issues than what's in the fun closet. It's not fool proof I know but I'm a firm believer that a crook really wants to steel something they will find a way. Locks alarms and cameras are mearly going to slow them down, make them think twice about it or aid in catching them. I just really want something other than a lock and key to lock a closet with my guns in it. Could do a number keypad but think a fingerprint scanner would be a nice touch.
