Is LSU a better team for having played Wisconsin?

Just wondering if that game will benefit us enough to make a difference in two weeks versus Moo State.
In the long run, with the playoff committee, we should get the nod before a team that played three cupcakes over the same period, but I can't see where it would make any significant difference in the actual play of the team to warrant scheduling that game.

IMO, I don't think Moo St is as good as advertised. I think we beat them by at least 2 touchdowns.

If Wisconsin goes on and beats everyone else in their cupcake schedule, yes, it will certainly help us. The way the Big 10 has looked, they could end up winning it.
Now it's hard to say currently, we're only through 2 games but I'm pulling for them to win every one of their games from here on out.

We were down 24-7 early in the second half. Instead of hanging our heads, we fought back and rallied to win. That's huge for our confidence, and it's an experience that I'm very grateful our team has.

Well for starters, how about the injury to Ethan Pocic? I know that injuries can happen in any game.
Secondly, scheduling the game would have to happen before we won the game in case you weren't aware of that. Which is why I asked the question in the first place.
I didn't ask should we have scheduled the game, I asked if LSU were a better team because we played the game.

Do you think that gives us a decided edge against Moo State so early in the season?
If it were week 7, I would say probably, but I'm not so sure about week 4.

I think so. It makes the team focus more during the off season when there is a marquee game to start the season rather than a cupcake. Look what Oregon did for 2011. Just think what having Oklahoma, USC, FSU, ND, PSU, MSU, or Miami would do for offseason preparations.

That's definitely a big part of it. I think if we'd opened the season with Sam Houston State, we wouldn't have looked nearly as good as we did on Saturday (disregarding suspensions, etc.). Sets up well for the long run.

We all watched LSU gel as a team in the late 3rd and 4th quarter. To come from behind on a ranked team and take over the game late like they did builds character and confidence. It was the best thing that could have happened for this young team. For those of you who don't know, Wisconsin is a better team than Moo State, especially O-line and running backs. Tigers will beat state by 2 or 3 touchdowns at home. Sure as the sun comes up tomorrow.

A large part of our success in 2011 was the preparation and conditioning before the season. We were doing like 4-a-days. We did this because of the insane difficulty of our schedule. I think that's also the reason we were sluggish in October 2012 because we hadn't played anybody. No question there's big season opener are huge.

Yes, LSU is a better team for having played a tough first opponent. We should always play a challenging first opponent, imo. I believe that a real test gives our staff a real evaluation and facilitates better planning for the season.

Many teams are still trying to find their identity. The game vs Wisconsin helped LSU discover a hell of a lot about themselves week one. The younger guys will have a lot of confidence going forward

Think about the game again before asking the question.
A young team was down 17 points in the second half... They pulled themselves together, out of the hole, corrected some assignments, stopped the early run, and starting playing LSU Football. The team probably learned a lot from that experience... away from Tiger stadium... on national TV.....
