Why do they keep tying to sell this shite? Especially in bars? Who the hell buys this crap? Every few years it's a new brand trying to be a bottled alternative to beer. Hard lemonaide. Wicked apple blah blah hard cider

Remember Zima? Reminds me of that. I remember some bars around campus that actually gave it away to get it out of thier coolers.

New? It's not new. And yes, companies market their products.

REAL cider is legit (and has been made for hundreds of years). Talking about Magners, etc. Some of the recent stuff is just ultra light beer with some artificial apple flavoring.

Agreed. There is some great stuff out there...but it's almost a certainty that you won't see ads for those brews.

If anything, I would say wheat beers, and especially flavored wheat beers are the new Zima. It's beer for people (chicks) who don't like beer.

Apple Cider is awesome and has been around for a long time. I have no idea what point you're trying to make.

Some of the current stuff is closer to apple martini than real apple cider.

Hard Cider is one of the Original American Drinks.
If it was good enough for the founders why isn't it good enough for you!?

I have 5 Reds Apple ales in my fridge right now because the girlfriend wanted something other than beer. She drank one (I tried a sip, thought it was an abomination) and it's been there for a month now. Might use them for target practice out in the woods pretty soon.

I know a poster on here who will take those off your hands. I try to help him out and donate some decent beer but he swears by that crap.

I see what you mean, it's a new trend and has a target audience. Would I make fun of one of my buddies who shows up at the tailgate with it, hell yeah! But for women who don't like the taste of beer and are not a place where mixing up a cocktail is feasible,I'm fine with it.

My good buddy is allergic to gluten so the only actual beer he can have is piss light beer that has a super low gluten concentration. He pretty much drinks cider and hard alcohol exclusively.

Introduce him to the Widmer Omission line of beers… They are low-gluten, and actually good (unlike the usual piss-light offerings he's used to).
