Students are having a peaceful gathering to celebrate the end of sanctions

However, now they're chanting "where's the statue?"

They are punishing the program who covered it up. Doesn't matter who is playing for them their university did this.

They also had free chances to transfer and not go there.

These two incidents (and their punishments) are hardly analogous .
