Chad Morris needs to be the first 10 calls SMU's AD makes. He'd be a perfect fit for them.

SMU should hire Craig James. He has ties to the university and learned what not to do as a head coach from Mike Leach.

I can't believe he resigned. It really seemed like he hated the job and was going to make them fire him so he would keep his checks.

Probably so, but you make that call and offer the largest contract you can.

Isn't June Jones the one who initially got the Arizona State job a few years ago, took it without telling his AD, and then ended up not getting it when it turned out ASU hadn't gone through proper processes? I remember some really weird stuff going on with that with regard to them hiring June Jones before they settled on Todd Graham.

ETA -- yep, found it.

ESPN: Source: Arizona State Pulls Offer

quote:

SMU coach June Jones had accepted an offer to coach Arizona State and minor contract points were being ironed out, a source said, when his representatives today received a call saying the offer had been pulled.

The source said Arizona State's explanation was that "it took too long" and the school president was moving on.

"We had accepted the deal," the source said. "I've never seen anything like this."
