The closures are starting on Wednesday, when the eastbound right lane of the bridge will be closed between 8:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. On Thursday, both the eastbound and westbound inside lanes will be closed.

These closures will continue, with varying lanes being closed, for the next 18 months, DOTD spokesperson Lauren Lee said.

The exception is on weekends when there are LSU home football games. DOTD won't close the lanes those days, including this Friday and Saturday.

Shouldn't be an issue. The capacity of the bridge far exceeds the daily demand.

The work involves spot painting, removing rust, and making structural steel repairs, according to DOTD.

aren't they also working on the old bridge as well? Glad I will not be driving through BR anytime in the next 18 months.

Motorists shouldn't be able to tell much difference. At least one lane is closed on a daily basis, amirite?

Please explain what you mean by that. Most highway structures are technically "out of code" within 5 years of construction as "the code" is constantly evolving.

I think I read that they're about to finish-up, but the work they were doing recently didn't really affect any of the travel lanes, anyway.

So there will be at least one lane closed 24 hours a day for 18 months... Great.
