Anyone else feel this way? I don't think I could have made a career out of it, but I feel like I should have put in some time and served our country when I was right out of high school.
I, as we all do, have numerous friends who joined and served. You put in 4 years, get some experience and time to mature some more under your belt before starting college.
On top of that, your college is then paid for. Plus you likely got to travel quite a bit prior to starting college. Seems like a win/win in hindsight.

I was 100% against it at 18. If I could do it over again, I'd go into the Air Force as a pilot.

I think 2-4 year mil service at reaching 18 should be mandatory.

You need a degree to go to ocs and pilot school so, this wouldn't work out for you.

Yes, I feel this way. The military would have probably done me a lot of good.

I really debated hard out of school but I knew I would have joined for the wrong reasons. It wouldnt have been for serving this country, that's for sure. I dont agree with alot of things that go on in this country.

I'm actually going through the motions right now. Hopefully it will all work out. I'll be 31 this month.

For a lot of kids, 18 is too young to be taking on college and college debt.

I wouldn't be opposed to a one or two year mandatory military service or government service program. Work them hard for a year or two.

2 years in the service would do a lot of good for some people. They could mature and learn a trade before starting life in the real world.
I would guess over half the high school grads have no idea what they want to do after graduation. I know i didnt.
