Well. They didn't have a pass rush, which allowed a very good QB with an elite WR to carve them up. If they had a pass rush, he wouldn't have had as much of a chance to do so.

I think that's Football 101.

so being better because of your own team's deficiency somehow makes the falcons worse. great point.

THEY BEAT THE BUCS

That's why its funny. You proclaim it like they just went on the road and beat the Seahawks. The division will still come down to NO and ATL.

Kind of like last year, right?

New Orleans Saints fans are still underselling how good the Carolina Panthers are...

To suggest the Panthers falling back to anything less than 10 wins is foolish.

No it isn't.

historically the NFC South winner from the previous year has always had a setback the next year.

Carolina may have controlled that game yesterday but it looks like Tampa Bay is going to struggle to protect their QB this year. The Bucs might have playmakers but that won't make a difference if the QB is going to get his dick knocked in the dirt all day.

Tampa Bay had 3 turnovers and Carolina had 0.

yet Carolina only won 20-14.

just wait until the Panthers play a team who gets better play from its QB and team that can actually protect their QB.

You can say that from one game against a mystery of a defense?

I would type out all the records but I'm seriously just deducting a win from the Saints and adding one for the Falcons. It's one game.

Not underselling anything. Carolina was on the good end of some close games. That isnt a culture, the team will come back to the pack of close games and that will cost them 2-3 wins.

The Saints lost on the road to the Packers on opening week 1 and look how that turned out for them in the regular season

Agreed. But it's not without warrant. They had a shitty off-season. Even Vegas set the over/under on # of wins at 8…that's absurd a 4 game negative difference. Obviously, it's only been 1 game, so it's tough to say who is right but the eyeball test told me Carolina did not regress near as much as the public thought.

What you got?

Very close to what I would guess right now. The top 3 spots look pretty interchangeable at this point. With how well the Saints play at home though, I'd probably bump them up to 11 wins.

Saints 11-5 - Still best team in NFC South
Falcons 8-8 - Defense is still bad
Panthers 7-9 - Schedule is tough, D is still solid
Bucs 6-10 - Derek Anderson beat that arse, they stink. Schiano being gone helps a little, tho.

I must have seen a different game. TB looked terrible, but Carolina looked AT BEST average to me. I think 8-8 is about right for them.

Falcons had even less of a pass rush and Brees didn't carve up our D like Matt did to the Saints.

Brees had over 300 yards passing. That's pretty good.

However, I was strictly commenting on the incredulity from that singular poster that not having a pass rush didn't effect the outcome.

However, the Falcons and Matt Ryan played great and deserved to win.

Average at best without your starting QB is pretty good
