anyone have any suggestions about where to stay for the LSU game? I'm not opposed to driving a bit to save money on a hotel, but how is gameday traffic?

Only been to one game in Fayetteville and really do not know the area very well so I cannot recommend where to stay.
However, if you park in any of the parking lots around the stadium, they have a bus/shuttle service that runs to take you to and from the stadium. Works really well.

Embassy Suites in Rogers, which will likely be the team hotel as well.
If you want somewhere really cool, stay at the 21c museum hotel in Bentonville, and be sure to go to Crystal Bridges museum while you are there.
Both hotels are a 20 minute drive to campus.

Traffic is horrendous. Not sure if there are any hotels within what a normal person would consider walking distance. You'll definitely get a better deal staying further out.

Rent a house on Beaver Lake or Bella Vista

The Waltons built a pretty amazing art gallery in the Bentonville area. I wasn't driving so I don't know technically where it is, but there's some world class art/trails there and is worth half a day.
Downtown Bentonville isn't bad to kill another half day and then Fayetteville would obv. be pregaming and the game itself.
Couldn't really find a picture to do it justice but whatevs...

Should be plenty of hotels in Fay/Springdale, Bentonville, or Rogers. If nothing else, Fort Smith is an hour away and has hotels.

NWA hotels generally empty out on the weekends, as WMT vendors who traveled in leave on Thursday.
I seriously doubt availability will be an issue, especially if you book now.

We are staying at a B&B in Eureka Springs just outside Fayetteville - I hear its has great restaurants and suppose to be a very nice little town. Never been so only time will tell.

We are staying at the Hampton Inn in Van Buren. We had no problems with traffic there in 2012.

Thanks so much for the suggestions everybody. This is a big help! I was told by an Arkansas fan that traffic is horrible on gameday, so I will try to plan accordingly. Not looking forward to that at all.

Rogers bentonville are 30-40 min away. Stay in Springdale right off of 540. 5-10 min to campus. Eureka spring is 40-60 min from campus. Make sure to hit up Hugo's, sandwiches and burgers, and Geraldi's for pizza. Also, traffic after the game is horrible. Cops don't know how to direct.

Well worth the trip. Don't forget to visit the TIGERS at Turpentine Creek while you are there. No Mike but there is a "Ty" that looks like him Sleep Next to Tigers all night at Turpentine Creek

I am staying in an awesome treehouse suite with 50 inch TV, a kitchen, and kingsize bed in Eureka Springs. There are 2 or 3 treehouse lodging places in the area.
I found the hotels in Rodgers and Fayetteville had tripled their prices on game weekends. I stay up there for work a lot and could not believe the upcharge. I looked around and found these places. pretty cool. Just Google "Treehouse Lodging Northwest Arkansas".
