I realize these aren't very encouraging, but it helps to look at individual performances.
Keep in mind that these stats are not the final word, but a supplement to your own eyeball test.

OFFENSE

-The run blocking was better than I remember, but the pass blocking is very disappointing, especially considering the lack of pass rushers on the Falcons defense.
-Goodwin needs to step up his pass protection big time.
-Morgan really needs to start producing. Right now, he's not a replacement for Stills in any way.
-Josh Hill may end up being a more complete TE than Graham.

DEFENSE

-I've looked at a lot of PFF stats, and this is honestly one of the worst graded units I've seen.
-Cam Jordan got a 0.0 overall score, which landed him third overall...that's disgraceful.
-Those complaining about Galette may have a point about his pass rushing yesterday, but his run defense was by far the best.
-At this point, I don't know how you can argue that Hicks is better than Walker. What has Hicks ever really done?
-Hawthorne continues to get snaps despite his consistent crappiness. I'm convinced that Lofton struggles because he has to do the job of two LB's.
-Deadericks is no J Jenkins.
-Vaccaro...easily worst performance of his career.

It's a fricking ocean of red on defense.

Total blood-letting.

I get that Walker had a better game, and is a nice player, but let's not get carried away. Besides this game, what has Walker ever really done? He has 5 career tackles, like I said, let's not get too carried away.

Exactly. Let's forget this ever happened. The players owned up to what happened and vow it won't be repeated.

It's not like the '12 who kept insisting things were alright and they weren't worried at all.

Akiem Hicks was quiet yesterday.

kept hearing how no one could block him in training camp.

I hope he comes back in a bad mood next week.

Maybe it's just me, but this is getting old.

I know he looks and sounds like a bad man, and he's obviously strong as frick.
But where is the production?
How much longer do we wait for him to break out?

That was the one thing I could not believe yesterday as I banned any sports related shows or games from being on my TV.

How freaking awful Vaccaro was. I just couldn't believe it. He was the worst player on our side.

You can turn coal into diamonds you know.

Every issue yesterday is fixable with some coaching adjustments. The dline was getting in the backfield and folding the pocket. Consistently. Jordan and Junyah were within an inch of grabbing Ryan on multiple occasions.

It's tough to get consistent amazing pressure with no blitz packages and rushing mostly 3 dlineman, occasionally 4.
If we had sent some linebackers or corners on blitzes they wouldve had quite a few sacks and hits on the QB. We'd send 3 lineman, force Ryan out the pocket, then he's have all day to throw or run. Where the frick were the other blitzers or a QB spy? I fully expected to see some adjustment at half time.

Corner is our weakest position on the team. We have Lewis and then no one. White and Robinson are serviceable, but they can't do anything on their own. despite this, we continued to run 2 super deep safety packages. This should have been solved with 2 safeties back and a third safety in the nickle roll.

I've been saying all preseason, our CBs will be the main determinant in how far we go this season. If they don't turn that around, we're gonna be disappointed. I think it's possible, but they need a lot of work.

Idk about that but I do know that the scheme yesterday didn't play to his strengths

Agreed. But with this weakness we have to take risks. Send 5 or 6 guys on a blitz, force a bad or shaky throw, and hope Byrd or Vaccaro make a play on the ball. We can't afford to sit back and wait for a mistake, we have to cause those mistakes.

It's particularly disappointing considering how obvious his progress was last season.

Even on PFF, you can see him go from red to green as the weeks went on in 2013.

I'm inclined to believe that Ryan put him in a situation not befitting him in any way.
