Breaking ground on a new house next month and will be in desperate need for something effective. Back of property backs up to swamp about 100 feet behind house. Mosquito misting systems legit? 100 strategically places thermacells? Something else?

My buddy's house has a line that runs under the gutters all throughout the backyard, its on a timer, sprays once a day in the evening. Doesn't look like it would be to hard to put up yourself. Not sure exactly what he uses in it, some all natural shite though, works well.

This! I was seriously thinking "about 6-8 warehouse box fans".

This is the absolute correct answer. Nothing else will do other than bug spray.

My back yard backs up to the swamp too. Everything i have tried, has failed. Everything i spay works for a few days to a week and then they are back full force Next i will try some type of misting system or magnet so my dogs dont get eaten alive. I have a 2' diameter fan back there and it is a mosquito massacre that i have to clean up every few days

I live in the country and couldn't go outside at dawn and dusk. I tried most of what has been suggested here with varying results none of which I was 100% satisfied with. Fans only work in a small area, Mosquito magnet would cost $40/ month and a hassle changing out propane bottles.

Three years ago someone suggested Bifen-IT in liquid form. Spray whole yard, side of house, trees and bushes. I borrowed a small boom sprayer and tried it and it works. I bought a john Deere 25 gal boom sprayer for my 1.5 acres and each spraying will last between 2 and 3 months depending on the amount of rain. I have been mosquito free for three years. The cost is about $50 for .75 gal and I can spray my yard twice with that. Mosquitoes spend most of the day on the underside of grass or brush. If they are new or old once they light where you sprayed they are dead.

It will also kill red ants and spiders

In spring time do not spray flowering plants because it will kill bees.

I think something like 90% of mosquitoes move around and 10% are locals. If you have a lot of swamp around, I don't think there is much that is going to help because new mosquitoes will be drifting in with the wind...

this is the only good answer

misting systems suck unless there is zero wind.

I have this sitting in the garage..it worked great but screw having to walk the yard and spray that every two weeks i guess i will have to get a sprayer for my john deere. It kills the yard but there are 1000x more buzzing waiting to invade the yard

A freind has a system that sprays some chemical through his sprinkler system. I works great. He has two ponds right at his back yard and has no issues at all.

Will try to find out what it is.

Had a bad problem with mosquitos for a long time. Put up 2 bat boxes and made a huge dent in them. Those little dudes eat their body weight in them every night.
